Pennsylvania Partners invites you to submit a proposal to present a workshop at the 28th Annual Employment, Training and Education Conference, scheduled for May 16-18, 2012 at the Hershey Lodge, Hershey, Pennsylvania

The deadline for submitting workshop proposals is January 6, 2012. Proposals submitted after this deadline or proposals that are incomplete may not be considered. Please provide all information requested.

Who May Submit

Individuals,agencies and organizations with expertise in workforce development and related programs such as economic development, education, TANF and others, may submit a proposal.

All proposals must be submitted online and be complete.

Presentation Specifications

Proposals that address the conference theme are strongly encouraged. All workshops and roundtables are 60 minutes long, including time for questions and answers. Formats may include lecture, panel discussion, hands-on demonstrations and small group discussions.

Use of Audiovisual Equipment and Internet Access

Pennsylvania Partners will provide a podium with microphone, screen and an A/V cart with electrical hookup. Making arrangements to provide all other audiovisual equipment including laptops, LCD projectors, conference phones, flip charts and internet access is the responsibility of the primary presenter. Equipment rentals can be arranged by PA Partners through the hotel, but certain costs may accrue directly to the presenter(s).

Conference Registration and Travel

Pennsylvania Partners does not subsidize travel expenses or conference registration fees. Presenters who wish to attend other workshops and conference events must register for the conference. A special rate will be provided for the primary presenter only. Presenters only attending to participate in one workshop will be asked to register separately. (More details will be provided after workshop selection is completed.)

Selection Criteria

Proposals will be reviewed by a selection committee based on the following criteria:

  • Proposal is submitted by the deadline and is complete.
  • Quality and format of the proposal (Over-reliance on PowerPoints and A/V presentations is discouraged)
  • Relevance to conference attendees and involvement of the local workforce system.
  • Innovation, interaction and creativity.
  • Relationship to conference theme.
  • Program balance.
  • Past evaluation(s) of the presenter(s).

 

Notification

The primary presenter will receive an email message acknowledging receipt of the proposal. The primary presenter will also be notified of the acceptance or rejection of the proposal by email by February 1, 2012. The primary presenter is responsible for all direct communications with their co-presenters for the workshop.

Monitors and Evaluations

Immediately following the conference, a survey will be sent to all attendees requesting their feedback and opinions about the conference including their evaluations of the the workshops. In addition, when possible, volunteer monitors will be assigned to each workshop to assist the presenter(s) and submit a report on attendance and overall workshop value.
